FREQUENTLY  ASKED  QUESTIONS

How is the Trust Technique different from other professional

animal behavioral approaches / services?

The Trust Technique Practitioner does not work with your animal but teaches you how to work with your animal. You are directly involved with your animal's process and progress. This creates a strengthened bond between you both. In addition, you are not just helping your animal to get better, you are helping yourself to be more stress-free and relaxed in life as well.

How many sessions are needed for my animal to get better?

How long it takes for your animal to let go of their fear and feel happy & confident is different for every individual. It can happen fairly quickly after just a few sessions, or it can take a few months. It all depends on how much time you can dedicate to your animal's progress. In most cases changes start to show within 3-5 sessions.

What if my animal is aggressive / dangerous?

The Trust Technique works very well with aggressive animals!  We will discuss your situation during our pre-session phone consultation, in which I will assess the risks, and develop a plan in preparation for our first session.

Sometimes an animal may need to wear a muzzle, or may need to be in an enclosure where we can work with him / her at a distance. Safety is of the utmost importance - for you, me, and your animal. We will all be safe at all times during the session.

Sometimes, with very aggressive animals, additional sessions may be necessary. In that case, in addition to your tutorial, I will work with your animal while you observe and learn. I will bring your animal to a level that will enable you to take over with the Trust Technique from there. Again, this is only in very extreme cases, but the success that can be achieved is well worth the extra attention for your animal.
